- JUNE 2002 COMBAT HANDGUNS MAGAZINE - BEST BUY DEFENSIVE GEAR, by DAVE SPAULDING"> HARRIS PUBLICATIONS, INC.
Polymer frame pistols are the future of defensive firearms. I resisted this for awhile, but they have proven to be tough, effective and less expensive to manufacture, allowing the gun companies to produce a less expensive quality pistol with a cost savings that can be passed on to the consumer. One of the few downsides to polymer frames is that they can become somewhat slippery with use, especially if the shooter begins to sweat. I have never been a big fan of the slip-on rubber grip made by several manufacturers as I have seen even the highest quality grip streach out and slip up to interfere with the magazine release button, or slip down and clog the magazine well. The best solution that I have found to solve the "slick grip" problems is the DECAL GRIP from GRUPO MERCARI. These grip additions are cut to fit individual handguns such as GLOCKs or HKUSPs. They are made from either rubber or what they call "sand", which is similar to a stick-on piece of sandpaper. If the grip is properly cleaned prior to application, the DECAL GRIP stays in place, even though reapeted cleanings. I prefer the sand versions as they are ultra-thin, but the rubber versions are just as effective. At a cost of ten buck, the DECAL GRIP is another simple, inexpensive and effective enhancement to any polymer defensive pistol.

BEST DRESSED GLOCK 36!
Custom add-on accessories make a great mini-45 even better!
Just when I thought I was finished with add-ons for my Glock 36 I received a sample of DECAL GRIP from Grupo Mercari. Available in Rubbery Pebble or Subdued Sand Grain, this material comes in pre-cut panels that can be further tailored for specific pistols. After placing the sample pannels to fit my Glock 36, I found that they truly enhanced my grip. Whatīs more, by using spaceage adhesive these pannels don't come off.

NEW FOR SWAT!
Using Space Age technology, DecalGrip offers a revolutionary textured pistol grip enhancement for pistols with polymer frames such as Glocks and H&Kīs. Offering pre-cut panels that will fit most models, these panels are easilily cut to fit other models if desired. Included are panels for the forward and rear sides of the slide as well as the actual grip panels. Iīve been using them on two GLOCKs, and they donīt come off.

Lastly, to improve the grip of any Glock, I installed DECAL GRIP. This nifty enhancement comes in two forms, a rubber or a grit, much like skateboard tape. Unlike various grip sleeves, this grip ads very little to the width of the grip. It also has sections to apply to the slide to aid in clearing the firearm. I chose to use the grit as I wanted to have maximum grip-ability. In my opinion this is one addition that is a must for a Glock in hot and sweaty or rainy conditions.
